Modular and Portable Multi-camera Photogrammetry System
Duncan J. Irschick, Ph.D.
• Hand-held, modular and portable multi-camera photogrammetry system that can be transported in a bag/case. • Portable, backpack version of the multi-camera photogrammetry system
• Rapid: Rapid capturing of 2D images for creating 3D models of objects that move on short time scales (seconds), such as live animals, humans, and other objects that move • Modular: Modular system that allows for adding or removing cameras and mounting arms • Portable: Highly portable system in the hand-held and backpack versions, allowing for rapid capturing of 2D images for 3D model creation in outdoor conditions
This invention provides a hand-held, portable, and modular photogrammetry system that consists of multiple cameras attached to movable mounting arms coupled to a holdable plate. The system also includes a trigger mechanism that activates the cameras simultaneously. The system enables rapid (15 - 45 seconds) capture of 2D images of still or moving objects for the creation of high-resolution 3D models.
