Architected Dual-network Solvent-free Adhesives for Stretchable Fabrics

LEAD INVENTOR:
Al Crosby, Ph.D.

PRODUCT OPPORTUNITIES

Flexible adhesives for:

    • Performance apparel and sportwear
    • Wearable electronics and smart textiles
    • Soft robotics

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

    • Solvent-free formulation
    • Tunable mechanical properties that stretches and deforms with the substrate

TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION
This invention demonstrates a solven—free, stretchable adhesive platform for soft and flexible materials. The adhesive consists of a ABA triblock copolymer that allows for tunable mechanical properties to match the mechanical behavior of the adhered materials across a wide range of strains, creating “mechanically transparent seams”
